Kyoshi Patrick Beaumont (8th Dan) from Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu Karate DO International been presented with a memento on his recent Kubodo day of Bo Staff Fundamentals at the K.A.S.A International Hombu Dojo ,Karate Ash Ashbourne Co Meath, by Sensei Bing Carroll (5th Dan).
A Fantastic turn out by our young and old students who gained such valuable insight of the use of Kubodo (weapons).

We can’t thank Kyoshi Patrick Beaumont enough for sharing his wealth of knowledge with our students. We look forward to incorporate Kubodo into our structure with the guidance of Kyoshi Patrick Beaumont.

Monthly Fees Due

Monthly Fees – We do not let students pay as they go. It is on a monthly basis only.
Students must pay for a month of lessons (which has its benefits for you and us).

Your monthly fees MUST be paid in the First Week of each Month.

If you are absent on this lesson, then fees will be due the following week. Fees must be paid when ‘signing in’, which is BEFORE the warm-up begins.

Months fees are the only payment asked for on a regular basis. If you are ill or are away on holiday your Monthly fees still need to be paid in full.

More & more students now go away during the summer for 4-6 weeks at a time. Monthly fees still need to be Paid.

Not only have we got your overheads to pay but we are still giving up our time to be there to teach you (even if you don’t turn up) and we are keeping your place secure in the class, by keeping you on our registers.

We do have future students on a waiting lists for Karate Ash, who are desperate for a place and would happily take your place on the register.

Fees are kept to a minimum amount and are charged to cover our costs.

You will find that our fees are one of the lowest around. If fees are forgotten on pay night, you will unfortunately not be allowed to train and will be sent home (if adult) or sat out to wait for parent (if child).

We know this may seem harsh, but we have to make sure we cover ourselves and provide a Fair & Safe Service to All.

You wouldn’t go to a swimming pool and expect to be allowed to swim without paying their swim fee.

For Students Grading this JULY 2016. They MUST have their Club Subscriptions FULLY PAID UP and MUST be Fully Paid up members of K.A.S.A International

Dojo Etiquette

Dojo Etiquette

The Dojo is a sacred place where we train ourselves physically & mentally. The student should respect the Dojo & observe the following etiquette.

(1) Always arrive punctually for training.

(2) Before starting practice go to the toilet.

(3) On entering the Dojo bow respectfully with “Oss”

(4) Always wear a clean white Karate Gi (Suit) in the Dojo.

(5) During the class address the Instructor as “Sensei”.

(6) Keep fingernails & toenails short to prevent injury to other students when training.

(7) When the Instructor calls for training to begin line up smartly facing the Instructor.

(8) If you are late for training, kneel in “Mokuso” posture on instructors left, awaiting
admission to class.

(9) When acknowledged by Instructor bow “Oss” & join the class according to your
grade.

(10) While training listen carefully & seriously to the advice given by the Instructor.

(11) Train hard to improve your own standard & do not criticise your fellow students.

(12) When the Instructor calls “Mokuso” (Meditation) close your eyes & breath deeply from
the lower stomach. Concentrate on your breathing & try to clear your mind.

(13) All students must train at least twice a week before a grading is allowed.

(14) When you observe training at the Dojo, respect the class keeping noise to a
minimum.

(15) Always keep the Dojo clean & tidy.

20 Precepts of Shotokan

Funakoshi Sensei, The father of Modern Karate.

20 Precepts of Shotokan Karate by Sensei Funakoshi, Founder of the Shotokan style.

1. Karate-do begins with courtesy and ends with rei.

2. There is no first strike in karate.

3. Karate is an aid to justice.

4. First know yourself before attempting to know others.

5. Spirit first, technique second.

6. Always be ready to release your mind.

7. Accidents arise from negligence.

8. Do not think that karate training is only in the dojo.

9. It will take your entire life to learn karate, there is no limit.

10. Put your everyday living into karate and you will find “Myo” (subtle secrets).

11. Karate is like boiling water, if you do not heat it constantly, it will cool.

12. Do not think that you have to win, think rather that you do not have to lose.

13. Victory depends on your ability to distinguish vulnerable points from invulnerable ones.

14. The out come of the battle depends on how you handle weakness and strength.

15. Think of your opponents hands and feet as swords.

16. When you leave home, think that you have numerous opponents waiting for you.

17. Beginners must master low stance and posture, natural body positions are for the advanced.

18. Practicing a kata exactly is one thing, engaging in a real fight is another.

19. Do not forget to correctly apply: strength and weakness of power, stretching and contraction of the body, and slowness and speed of techniques.

20. Always think and devise ways to live the precepts of karate-Do every day.

Ripples Class

Ripples Class

It’s so cool now to have four Ripples Autism Karate classes every Saturday in Karate Ash… These classes cater for children/teens with Autism, Aspergers, Dyspraxia and other similar conditions or simply may not fit into mainstream Karate classes for what ever reason…

We like to thank the parents for the support… Places are always limited in these classes as the demand is always very high… We have limited places in our classes.

On Saturdays we have our Novice  class  for boys and girls from aged 6 years up to 12years 11.30am to 12.30pm.

Inclusive Teen Girls class 1pm to 2pm and then our Inclusive Boys class at 2pm to 3pm

On Thursdays at 6pm  for 5 years old up to 12 year olds. Then we have our Traditional Shotokan Karate Inclusive class at 7pm to 8pm for teens

Our Ripples  Ashbourne Inclusive Karate Class caters for Children with Dyspraxia, Aspergers, Autism etc. or simply those who don’t get on in mainstream Karate classes.

Our club allow them to be themselves in an environment which is understanding but slowly pushes them out of their comfort zone without them realising.

We have been running for 4 years and in this time our activities have sought to encourage them to achieve with amazing results.

Some parents might feel that a group like this further isolates their child or teen but what it can do is show them that in a stress free environment with understanding coaches that they too can achieve. This can have major effects on them and has translated in many cases into everyday life including school.

We only take 10/12 in this class and unfortunately this class is full at the moment but we only have a couple on the waiting list at the moment.

Inclusive Karate

Benefits

Kids with autism may have been excluded from participating in rigorous and intense sports, but martial arts is not one of these sports. Studies have proven and parents have reported the developmental progress of their autistic children due to martial arts training.

Not only do Motor skills and Coordination improve, but also communication skills and self-esteem increase.

Kids with autism respond well to martial arts training and experience an encouraging range of progress in their ability to focus, make eye contact, and interact socially with their instructors and peers. Because of the rigidly structured environment of martial arts training, and the intensity involved, students on the autism spectrum increase their ability to concentrate.

This ability to focus has proven to translate into other areas of the student’s life, including activities at school and at home.
