CRITERIA FOR ADVANCED IKKU SHOTOKAN GRADING

SENIOR BROWN BELT/1st KYU

Students must train on a regular basis in Traditional and Sport Karate.

Students must attend extra classes/courses.

Students must be proactive in their club and with The IKKU.

Students must know their syllabus and be able to perform their syllabus to the very best of their ability.

JUNIOR BLACK BELT LEVEL 1,2,3,4 and 5

Students must train on a regular basis in Traditional and Sport Karate.

Students must attend extra classes/courses

Students must compete at local level in the discipline of Kata

Students wishing to Grade to the rank of Level 3 and above would be expected to be proactive in their club, help with coaching etc.

Students must know their syllabus and would be expected to perform to the very best of their ability.

SHODAN/1st DAN

Students must train on a regular basis in Traditional and Sport Karate.

Students must attend extra classes/courses (5/6 hours training/practice per week minimum would be required)

Students must compete at local level in the Discipline of Kata.

Students must have an up to date First Aid Certificate

Students must have a Child Protection/Safe Guard Certificate.

Students must have an Introduction to Coaching Certificate.

Students must be proactive in their club and with the IKKU.

Students must know their syllabus and would be expected to perform to the very best of their ability.

NIDAN/2nd DAN

As Shodan

Students must have a Level 1 Coaching Certificate

Students must have attended Local or National Referee and Judges Courses.

Students must Referee or Judge at Local Competitions where possible.

If we don’t progress as individuals our clubs/association will struggle to progress and grow.
